What the declaration of residence is for
It proves the address when the tenant has no bills in their name or when the entity asks for a declaration from the landlord: parish council, school, bank.
Declaration of residence and AIMA
AIMA has its own template: the AIMA accommodation declaration.
How to fill it in

- Identify the property and the lease.
- List only those who actually live there.
- State the receiving entity and the purpose.
- Sign; have the signature certified if the entity requires it.
Mistakes to avoid
- Declaring people who do not live at the property.
- Stating a start date different from the real one.
- Using this template for AIMA.
Frequently asked questions
Must the landlord issue a declaration of residence?
There is no general rule requiring it. It is a cooperative document, which the landlord should sign only if the facts declared are true.
Is the landlord's declaration valid for the parish council's residence certificate?
Many parish councils accept it as evidence, together with the lease or utility bills. Requirements vary between parishes: check with your local council.
Does the signature need to be certified?
Only if the receiving entity requires it. In that case, certification is done in person before a competent entity, such as a notary, lawyer or solicitador.
Can I use this declaration for AIMA?
It is not the right template. For AIMA, use the specific accommodation declaration, which contains the data AIMA requires.
